He stated that the ministry is “investigating” cars from China within its vehicle pools, however stressed that safety is a concern in all contemporary vehicles.

We have a collection of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a very small number.
However whether you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, our instruction to our staff is not to plug Ministry of Defence devices into their vehicle, not to have conversations at a secret classification in any car, due to the growing threats of surveillance that are present in every single vehicle, to restrict those confidential conversations in protected areas. That’s a wise and reasonable thing for anyone worried about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be prudent for the ministry to cease using every cars from China, Pollard responded: That is exactly what we’re investigating at the present time.”

This revelation comes as reports from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese electric buses, which could enable the Chinese government to switch off public transport and bring chaos to transport systems.
