Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world had expressed condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
