A Highly Anticipated James Bond Game First Light Faces a Postponement, Now Arriving in May 2026.
The Development Studio
The release of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, has been pushed back until 27 May 2026.
First planned for a 27 March release, the title is now set to arrive approximately two months later its initial date.
A Much-Needed Return for 007
This project represents the inaugural video game centered on the legendary British spy since 2012's 007 Legends, ending a extended hiatus for the character in the gaming world.
"Our project is entirely complete from start to finish," explained developer IO Interactive. "But, we are utilizing this additional period to apply final touches and make certain it satisfies the lofty standards of our players."
Development Particulars and Story Elements
The game is being crafted in association with Delphi Interactive, a studio also behind another high-profile title.
Patrick Gibson, star of Dexter: Original Sin, will star as a young James Bond in what is described as a fresh take on the beginnings.
The narrative will follow Bond as he is recruited into MI6 and earns his prestigious 00 status, presenting a original plot independent of the films or books.
Star-Studded Talent and Mechanics Glimpses
Enhancing the star power, American musician Lenny Kravitz will perform as the game's primary antagonist.
Early preview videos have shown some similarities with IO Interactive's successful Hitman franchise, while also highlighting the expected gadgets and cinematic set pieces inherent to Bond.
That said, some feedback on these trailers expressed concerns over how the game looked, pointing out stuttering and prominent motion blur.
A Major Undertaking
IO Interactive has referred to 007 First Light its "largest-scale project to date."
"We're confident this prepares 007 First Light up for long-term success," the studio stated. "We sincerely appreciate the understanding and ongoing enthusiasm we've received."
